Inferior and superior mirage distorting ships

The first five images show inferior mirage on a ship; in the rest of the images superior mirage distorts ship.

Both types of mirages distort equally islands and ships. For explanation see the two first subpages of mirages. However, there is one more topic to mention: ships do move and their distorted shape is changing all the time. 'la01243'-'la01442' is an example of exceptional clarity and variability. A more casual observation is 'Flying Dutchman', where dark silhouette of a distant ship and its mirage slowly move in horizon.
