Ski jump tower clearly reveals the many inversion layers. The very last picture shows power lines zig zagging due to mirage. Power lines are 'sensitive' to mirages because they lie almost horizontal. Even a small deviation from horizontal, at proper height, next to inversion layer can result in dramatic distortions. This nice detail was pointed to me by Andrew T. Young, whose great pages of mirages are a corner stone in understanding the phenomenon.
As said on the previous page, notice that in composites each individual image is in register and so the true distortion is revealed.
