Halos are born when light is refracted or reflected in icecrystals of different shapes. There is no way to make a halo guide here because of the richness of possible forms. Just be observant wherever you are and check your day and night sky whenever there are cirrus-type clouds passing by. Images ha03222 and ha03122 show a 9 degrees' ring (next page) while image ha00954 shows several (anomalous) sun centered rings; ha01323 an ellipsoid halo.
Images hk** show halos around moon and finally hl**** are halos from airplane. Airplane would be a wonderful place to hunt several atmospherical phenomena, so any vacant and cheap seats somewhere...?
